One reason I chose to be a scientist is that I love making things. I think science is a creative activity that explores how the universe works. In this talk I want to show you three experiments you can try at home using inexpensive and easy to get materials. These include: parabolic solar heater, electricity generation and light beam communications. Many of these experiments were demonstrated in the challenges set during the six Open University BBC Rough Science TV series that I appeared in. The talk will include demonstrations and video clips from the TV series.
