School of Noise: Drawing Sounds – Dan Mayfield – Ages 5-8

Ages 5-8

Join Dan Mayfield from the School of Noise as he explores alternative methods that can be used to compose and perform music. During the presentation you can learn the history of graphic scores and study various examples. There will also be a chance to make your very own unique piece of sound art.

Dan Mayfield

Dan Mayfield is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound artist and author. He has performed around Europe with folk groups and indie bands, including Daniel Johnston, Darren Hayman and the Wave Pictures, and has appeared as a session musician on over 15 albums.

Dan runs workshops in experimental and electronic music with School of Noise, and in 2015 published a children’s book, Jasper and the Magpie.

Dan studied sound engineering at college and acoustic ecology at university. He has also worked with children and adults on the autism spectrum for over 14 years.
